Thank you for expressing an interest in our non-profit housing projects.

The Shuswap Independent Living Association (S.I.L.A.) is a non-profit volunteer organization formed to promote affordable housing in our community.  We have five projects that we manage under separate funding agreements from B. C. Housing (B.C.H.M.C.) & Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (C.M.H.C.) The rental units fall under two basic types. The first type is Rent Geared to Income (RGI).  With this form of rent, the tenant pays 30% of their gross income.  The other type is Low End of Market (LEM).  With this form of rent the tenant pays rent that is at, or slightly lower than equivalent units renting on the open market.

Who can apply?   Families, Seniors and Persons with physical, mental, psychiatric or emotional disabilities who are able to live independently, all having low to moderate incomes.  If you have any questions as to whether or not you qualify, please contact BC Housing.  All “RGI” applications are scored using a scale that awards points based on need, with the persons in the most need, being housed first.  The “LEM” units are housed more on a traditional waiting list style.
